Preparation for University & Life

The culmination of a Mulgrave education lies in the options that become available to our students as graduates.

Armed with a world-class IB education and a strong sense of self, our grads are well-prepared for life after Mulgrave. Our University and Careers Counselling Department (UCCD) supports this part of students' journeys by informing and guiding them in all aspects of planning for the future.

As a department, our UCCD works closely with both the student and their parents/guardians to help them determine their path and refine their university search. The goal is for students to be prepared to earn a place at their university of choice or to have a strong plan in place for activities such as a gap year or entrepreneurial pursuits. This partnership begins a collaboration with our Life Skills teachers in Grade 8 and 9, followed by initial one-on-one meetings with Grade 9 families as they transition to the Senior School. In Grades 10-12, counselling expands to include course selection advice based on the goals that students have set for themselves. University counsellors meet with each student to map out a detailed pathway which reflects personalised post-secondary ambitions.

Our UCCD also works externally to build and enhance close partnerships with post-secondary institutions by attending conferences, hosting university fairs and visits, and much more.
