Academics, arts, athletics, and more! Our summer programmes are designed to expand the boundaries of your child's learning and summer fun throughout the month of July. You can choose from half day morning and afternoon camps, as well as some full day options. Explore the offerings by week below or download the Schedule-at-a-Glance on the right.

Students who are not proficient in English must register for 'English as a Second Language' options. Please see the Registration Information at the bottom of this page for more information.

Week 1: July 8-12

1/2 Day Morning | 9:00am-12:00pm

Children's Physical Literacy 

This programme gets students moving through group and individual activities designed to promote health-related physical fitness, skill development, safety, and general physical and social growth. Motor development skills such as balance, hand-eye coordination, and spatial relationships will all be developed in this fun and engaging week long camp.
 
 

Exciting Experiments  

Science allows students to learn and understand the world around them. In this camp, students will explore the science behind everyday items through hands-on activities and adventures. We will look at structures, seeds, soil, building, and recycling by making a variety of new useful things. This camp is a great way to learn about the world and each little scientist will take home their projects. Please come dressed to get dirty and have fun experimenting!

Math Games and Problem Solving 

Games are a great way to spark kids' interest in math without them even realising the extent of their learning! This camp is packed full of fun math games and logic puzzles that are appropriate for this age group and will extend and complement their school work. This is a 'safe' zone where students are able to develop without fear of failure. They will practise number bonds and math skills in a practical and exciting way so that everyday math is fun!

Public Speaking for Beginners

This camp is for students who are looking to develop their speaking skills. They will learn how to plan and deliver interesting speeches, and how to speak clearly and with authority. We provide opportunities for students to practise public speaking, and engage in fun games that develop confidence.

ESL Oral Communication 

Want your child to become a better speaker? Oral communication skills are essential in both the classroom, and when interacting with peers. Come practise in a fun and engaging environment! ESL Sharing Stories with Magic! 

Magical writing can captivate readers with fantastical creatures, dastardly villains, and beautiful heroines. This camp is about sharing stories that all have a magical theme. Students will spend each day experiencing a new magical book as well as a range of related activities that encourage further comprehension and retention of new vocabulary.  In this camp, students will develop their listening, speaking, reading, and general communication skills. This is an intensive English program that offers classes in the morning and allows students join a non-ESL camp in the afternoon to practice new English skills. All-Star All Sports 

A multi-sport programme that provides children in Grades 1-3 with opportunities to try a wide range of sports, games and team challenges. Participants will get a fun introduction to many traditional sports and universal sport-related skills through modified game play and cooperative drills.

Basketball for Beginners 

This camp is for kids who are interested in learning about basketball and developing their fundamental skills. It is perfect for absolute beginners, as well as those who have a bit of experience and want to take their game to the next level. Students will be playing in the gym and need to wear loose clothing and bring a water bottle.

Fun in the Forest 

Having fun in the forest is all about understanding and appreciating our environment. Learn games that don’t leave a trace one you’re gone, as well as survival strategies and what to do if you get lost in the forest. Campers will need to wear walking shoes (no sandals) and clothes that can get dirty. We will go off campus every afternoon, so please have rain gear in case of a shower.

Botanical Sketching in Nature

This camp develops observational skills and explores the local environment. Students will walk with skilled guides, listening to stories and sketching the beauty of British Columbia as they go. As they explore our ancient forests, they will focus on plant life, fungi, native animal species, and some history of First Nations in BC. Students will venture out rain or shine, so wet weather gear and boots may be necessary. All sketching materials will be supplied.

Printmaking 

In this class we will learn a variety of printmaking techniques including monoprinting, block printing and collography. We’ll work with cards, t-shirts and bags to create beautiful and useful items. A fun and creative class exploring colour, texture and pattern - come and learn the satisfying art of printmaking!

Singing: Accent on Show Songs (G3-7) 

*Please note this course is for grades 3-7 only. This is a 2 week course spanning weeks 1 & 2. 

This mini-course is directed at students who like singing, especially theatrical songs. The accent will be on musical theatre repertoire, with other general song material mixed in, to create a varied program of study. Participants need not be experienced performers, but merely possess an interest in singing, including choral-style ensemble work. A variety of songs from several musicals will be studied, in unison and some harmony, according to the group’s experience and ability. Some complementary movement will be incorporated where appropriate, but the main focus will be group singing. Please bring a water bottle, other drinks and snacks are not permitted in the rehearsals.

Week 2: July 15-19

A Book of Your Own 

This writing and art programme will have kids’ creativity spilling out onto the pages of books! Camp participants will make small books, each with a different focus and theme. Using a number of different techniques, they will learn how to structure their stories and enrich their vocabulary. Students will finish this camp loving the books that they have made and feeling proud of their achievements.

Dolphin Kids - I Can Do It

*Please note this camp is for Grades 2-4 only. 

Our brains can be hardwired to adapt, be resilient, and overcome failure to achieve our very best. Students will learn:

  • Leadership and relationship skills through team-building games and collaborative activities.
  • How to use empathy, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills to achieve your goals.

Fencing (G1-7)

Through one of the most elegant, exhilarating and safest sports, students will learn discipline, coordination and sportsmanship. This camp is taught by one of Canada’s most decorated fencers, Igor Gantsevich (National, North and Pan American Champion, Pan American Games and World Cup Medalist). All students will receive a certificate of completion signed by Canadian National Team Coach Victor Gantsevich and Coach Igor Gantsevich. All necessary equipment will be provided for the camp. Please make sure your child is wearing comfortable athletic attire and clean athletic shoes (sandals, dress shoes, flip flops or crocs will not be permitted at camp).

George's Marvellous Medicine  

Roald Dahl's classic story of marvelous mixtures is the inspiration behind this chemistry camp. Kids will come into the lab, become chemists, and learn all about solutions, mixtures and compounds. They will make silly putty, liquid sunsets, indicator solution, and more. Become a chemical detective and identify chemicals and reactions that pop, fizz and foam.

Puzzles and Conundrums 

With the fun of puzzles, games and challenging conundrums, students may miss that they are learning math strategies! Hands-activities (outside on those nice summer days) offer students the perfect opportunity to and keep mathematical brains active and interested over the school break. All abilities will enjoy this multifaceted camp.

ESL Bookmaking & Story Writing 

Express your inner storyteller through the art of bookmaking! By creating their own stories, students will develop their listening, speaking, reading, and general communication skills. This is an intensive English program that offers classes in the morning and allows students join a non-ESL camp in the afternoon to practice new English skills. Big Painting 

Go big or go home! This art camp is about big projects that involve hand prints, splatters and sploshes of colour. Students will let their creativity rip on a grand scale! Please come wearing old clothing that can get dirty.

Camp Out Adventures 

Students will spend Monday and Tuesday afternoon learning about our local environment and camping skills as they prepare for two nights of sleeping out under the stars (Wednesday & Thursday). This camp is led by experienced teachers and camping is in tents on Mulgrave School grounds. Dinner is included on Wednesday and Thursday evening, as well as breakfast on Thursday and Friday. Campers will need their own sleeping bag and roll mat. More detailed information will be sent to parents before the camp.

Learn to Sew

Campers will learn the basics (and beyond!) of sewing. Each student will take home a special hand-crafted item at the end of the week. It might be a rainbow hued patchwork pencil case or a cute stuffy. Sewing is a life skill that is fun and useful for boys and girls.

Team Games 

This action-packed programme introduces young athletes to various team game skills using many traditional, modified sports such as basketball, soccer, floor hockey, and a multitude of small group fun challenges. Students will gain increased communication skills, gross motor control, and confidence gained along the way. Basic game understanding and respect for rules, teammates and opponents are also key aspects of the camp. Campers need to come dressed in runners and clothing suitable for active sports.

Drama Games and Puppet Making 

Release both your inner artist and puppeteer! Each day, students will use their imaginations and artistic talent to create a variety of puppets using different mediums. Students will learn to plan, rehearse and perform original shows using the puppets that they have created.

Insect Investigations

Bring your magnifying glass and sense of adventure as we get up close and personal with the creepy-crawlies that we find in local and exotic habitats. This camp will enhance your knowledge of the insect world through outdoor exploration (don't forget weather appropriate clothing), hands-on investigations, and other forms of research. Forget your squeamishness and be an insect detective.

No-Bake Sweets and Cookies 

This camp is perfect for young bakers who want to experiment with sweets and cookies. The bonus is that with all of the recipes being ‘no bake’, students can tackle them at home with little guidance, helping to develop their independence and sense of accomplishment.

Delve into a different culture each day, and learn about arts of the world. Students will focus on using different techniques and materials to correctly portray traditional arts and crafts from many lands. They both observe and discuss existing art from a variety of cultures, as well as create of their own pieces. All materials will be supplied.

Get Your Groove On - Dance Camp 

This camp is perfect for children who love to move and want to try different styles of dance. We will explore a variety of genres including ballet, jazz, contemporary, hip-hop, and stage. Through dance, students will work on skills such as: coordination, rhythm, balance, stamina, memory and performance. Comfortable clothing is recommended (please no jeans). Ultimate Frisbee 

Ultimate Frisbee is a lively game that stresses sportsmanship. Competitive play is encouraged, but never at the expense of respect between players, adherence to the rules, and the basic joy of play. In this non-contact game, students will develop eye-hand coordination, practise passing games, and learn disc skills, while having fun and competing in a safe and supportive environment.

Zen Maker Camp - LED Nightlight

Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics (STEAM) – Sampler Camp

From art, 3D design and 3D printing, to electronics, Minecraft, augmented reality and engineering projects, your kids will be introduced to the important areas of science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics.  No experience necessary! It's a great way for your child to have fun while learning some really useful skills, helping prepare them for the future. Participants will build a visually programmable LED nightlight that they can take home with them.

Botany for Beginners  

Is your child fascinated with fungi and passionate about plants? This is their chance to learn more about their environment and how to protect it. Over the course of the week, campers will learn about different flora by dissecting flowers and plants, conducting experiments, and create a ‘Botanist’s Journal’ to record their observations, sketches and new understandings. Creativity is the #1 skill identified for future-ready leaders. Be curious, think critically, and generate creative ideas in this hands-on innovation programme! Students will learn how to:

Yoga has been proven to boost both physical and mental health for children. This camp teaches poses to get everyone moving, while also focussing on mindfulness through relaxation with music. Fairy Gardens

While the fairies are away, you can create a miniature garden for them to come home to. Using natural materials, tiny plants and ornaments, and other gardening supplies (along with a little imagination!), campers put together a make-believe world all their own. ome fairy furniture too could be on the agenda, too. On rainy days, this will be an inside camp, but wear clothes that can get dirty.

Nature Walks & Poetry

This camp introduces and develops knowledge of verse and poetry while enjoying the outdoors. Students will learn and recite poems in small groups, big groups, and individually in the natural theatre of the forest.  Performing, collaborating and speaking skills will be strengthened throughout the week! Students will work indoors and outdoors, weather permitting, so remember to bring sunscreen and a bottle of water to keep those vocal cords hydrated. All other materials will be supplied.

Sparkly Arts & Crafts

Is sparkle your child’s favourite colour? If so, they will love this camp! We will make pictures and models that focus on different types of glitter and sparkly materials. Campers will come home with something to share every day and along the way, they will learn different art skills and techniques. Tag Games in the Forest

Running around the forest is what childhood memories are made of! This is an active camp that involves exciting games set in our forested playground area. Tag can evolve in many ways, so every day will bring a new adventure and students will have a blast. This camp is focussed on expanding vocabulary and writing with words that excite the senses and sparkle on the page! Be ready for lots of word exploration, including some etymology and investigation of foreign words that have been adopted into the English language. Young Moviemakers

*Please note that this course is for grades 4 to 8. 

Young Moviemakers is an award-winning acting and video production studio for children and youth. Students participate in workshops and, with a team of experienced filmmakers, develop and produce short films to be screened in front of family and friends. Throughout the week, students are trained in video production, screenwriting, acting, film editing, visual storytelling and much more!

Zen Maker Camp - MP3+ Player

Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics (STEAM) – Sampler Week 1

From art, 3D design and 3D printing, to electronics and Python coding with Raspberry Pi...from Minecraft mods, augmented reality and robotics to an engineering project... your kids will learn or expand their existing skills in important STEM disciplines. Fencing (G1-7)

Through one of the most elegant, exhilarating and safest sports, students will learn discipline, coordination and sportsmanship. This camp is taught by one of Canada’s most decorated fencers, Igor Gantsevich (National, North and Pan American Champion, Pan American Games and World Cup Medalist). All students will receive a certificate of completion signed by Canadian National Team Coach Victor Gantsevich and Coach Igor Gantsevich. All necessary equipment will be provided for the camp. Geometry Art 

Geometry and art go together like salt and pepper! This camp is packed full of fun art activities, games and puzzles that are appropriate for this age group and will extend and complement their concrete mathematical understanding. Dance for Flexibility 

This camp is perfect for students who want to try dance without committing to one style. Through dance, students will work on skills such as: coordination, rhythm, balance, stamina, memory, and performance. We will explore a range of styles including ballet, jazz, contemporary, hip-hop, and stage. Comfortable clothing is recommended (please no jeans). Exploring our Environment 

This is an opportunity to see the world beyond a screen! In this camp, students will transform into explorers and develop their observational skills in the local environment. Campers will learn by seeing, touching and feeling the beauty of nature during their short hikes. Learning about the ancient forest, students will hear stories from the First Nations Peoples and learn about the land, plants, and ecology. Singing: Accent on Show Songs (G3-7) 

*Please note this course is for Grades 3-7 only. 

This mini-course is directed at students who like singing, especially theatrical songs. The accent will be on musical theatre repertoire, with other general song material mixed in, to create a varied program of study. Participants need not be experienced performers, but merely possess an interest in singing, including choral-style ensemble work. A variety of songs from several musicals will be studied, in unison and some harmony, according to the group’s experience and ability. Some complementary movement will be incorporated where appropriate, but the main focus will be group singing. Zen Maker Camp - LED Colour Clock

Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics (STEAM) – Sampler Week 2 (different material from week 1. It can be taken independently of week 1 or in addition to it)

From art, 3D design and 3D printing, to electronics and Python coding with Raspberry Pi...from Minecraft mods, augmented reality and robotics to an engineering project... your kids will be introduced or expand their existing skills in important STEM disciplines. Marine Biology 

Did you know that we know more about outer space than we do about our oceans? Students can come get their feet wet in this outdoor marine biology course! They will explore our shorelines and learn more about the plants and creatures that live in our ocean. By lifting up a rock, students can discover an entirely new world right at our shore. Camp Out Adventures 

Students will spend Monday and Tuesday afternoons learning about our local environment and camping skills as they prepare for two nights of sleeping out under the stars (Wednesday & Thursday). This camp is led by an experienced  teachers and camping is in tents within the Mulgrave School perimeter fencing. Dinner is included on Wednesday and Thursday evening, as well as breakfast on Thursday and Friday. Campers will need their own sleeping bag and roll mat. Gardens in Miniature 

Using natural materials, tiny plants and ornaments, and other gardening supplies (along with a little imagination!) to create a miniature world, campers put together a make-believe world all their own. Super Skills and Fancy Footwork 

This action-packed sports camp introduces young athletes to various ball skills and team games using many traditional, modified sports such as basketball, soccer, floor hockey, and a multitude of small group fun challenges. Students will benefits from increased hand-eye coordination, control of actions, and the confidence gained along the way. Basic game understanding and respect for rules, teammates and opponents are also key aspects of the camp. Participants need to come dressed in runners and clothing suitable for active sports. Creating a shelter is all about understanding your environment. This afternoon camp is about knowing the forest and making forts and shelters that don't leave a trace once we're gone. When choosing camps, pick options for the grade your child will be entering in the upcoming academic year.

  • Participants must be registered directly by their parents or legal guardians. We cannot accept registration from agents or group bookings.
  • The Camp Director may, at her discretion, move participants into the English as a Second Language stream if their English is not to the fluency required to fully participate in their registered courses.
  • All camps are for enjoyment and skill development. Written reports of students’ progress will not be provided.
  • Before registering, please become familiar with our cancellation policy as stated below.
  • If you have more than one child to register, please enter them all during the same online registration session in order to receive the 10% sibling discount. You will need to enter information for each child one at a time.
  • If you have registered before, you can retrieve your information with your email and password. If you no longer have your password, you can request a password reset. Please follow the prompts from Active Network.

Cancellation Policies

  • We understand that sometimes cancellations are unavoidable, but we also need to be able to finalise our numbers to ensure a high quality of instruction.  Please know that each of the cancelled camps will be subject to a $50 administrative fee and cancellations after Wednesday June 12th cannot be refunded
  • Participants who choose not to complete the week of camp as a result of being moved into the English as a Second Language stream (at the discretion of the Camp Director, based on English fluency) are not eligible for a refund.
