1896. Girton College, Cambridge, the first college in Britain to admit women. Yet, when the men graduate, the women leave with nothing but the stigma of being a ‘blue stocking’ – an unnatural, educated woman. They go home unqualified and unmarriageable.

But Tess Moffat and her fellow first years are determined. Despite the distractions of love, the cruelty of the class divide and the strength of the opposition, they'll fight to change the future of education...

Written by director and writer, Jessica Swale (by arrangement with Nick Hern Books).

After the show, we will take donations for the Malala Fund, which continues the world-wide fight for women's education: please give what you can!
