HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO US!

Dear Members and Friends of the Mulgrave Community,

Happy birthday to us! This year, we are celebrating 25 years of inspiring excellence in education and life. I am proud to be leading the school into its silver anniversary year and am grateful to everyone who has been part of our school's journey. In all ways, big and small, every person's contribution - as students, parents, staff and faculty - has made a difference in our trajectory, leading us to where we are today.

In the context of Canadian independent schools, we are very young. Some of our IB cohort schools (Branksome Hall, Ridley College, and UCC, for example) have already celebrated 100+ years of existence. Our youth, however, has not ever been a limiting factor, and we have quickly established ourselves as a leading independent and international school both locally and beyond. To what can we attribute our rapid success? At our very foundation, we have a group of current and alumni parents who wholeheartedly believe in our mission and who continually support, in a multitude of ways, our

desire to refine and improve the holistic education we provide our students. From our first families, to the group that just joined us this week, your belief in our philosophies, your constructive feedback, and your unwavering support fill us with confidence and help us to continue to do our best work.

MEET OUR NEW FACULTY

Not only have we welcomed new students and families to Mulgrave this week, but we also have a wonderful contingent of new faculty that are settling into the school and are getting to know your sons and daughters. They hail from near and far, and bring a wealth of experience and unbridled enthusiasm. Find out more about them in our New Faculty Profiles

SUMMER HIGHLIGHTS: WORLD SCHOLAR'S CUP DOWN UNDER WITH A DASH OF FLAMENCO
Image

Mulgrave teams travelled great distances this summer to compete in rounds of the World Scholars Cup - an academic competition featuring four events: Scholar's Challenge, Collaborative Writing, The Team Debate, and the Scholar's Bowl. Our teams in Spain and Australia not only performed well, but managed to also squeeze in some cultural learnings.

Grade 9 students Mona X, Angelina Y, and Kiki K summed up their adventures in Barcelona: "The trip overall was a fun experience; not only were we

participating in academic competitions, but also scavenger hunts, tours to the highlights of Barcelona, talent shows, and cultural fairs. Collectively, we received 30 medals and also qualified to attend the Tournament of Champions at Yale."

Off in Melbourne, Markus M (G11), Harry C (G12) and Kaden G (G11) also posted impressive results including 3rd Canadian Team and Top 5% Overall Team. They, too, qualified for the Tournament of Champions as Yale.

Congrats to all of you...we'll be cheering on when you head back east for the next round!

Watch for more student summer highlights in future issues of Connexions.

GET ONBOARD!

Starting September 4th, students must be registered to ride the school bus. The service is flexible, offering the option to ride to and/or from school as well as single ride tickets.

Once the registrations period is complete, our Bus Coordinator will work to finalize the routes to accommodate convenient stops for as many families as possible.

Riding the bus a great way to reduce the environmental impact of commuting and cut down on traffic congestion in and around the school. It's also a wonderful opportunity for students to gain some independence and social time. For details, please see our Transportation webpage.

STILL GETTING INTO THE SWING OF THINGS?
Image

The new school year is still rather fresh, so we expect you're still popping into the  Back to School Package for info every so often. By the end of September, most of the activities on the page will be complete and you and your children will be well settled into the routine. At that point, we'll remove it from the website. But never fear, the Community tab will still be your go-to spot for seasonal and event information.
