This year we are very honoured to be able to attend the Rocky Mountain Music Festival in Banff; this not only provide us opportunities to discover more about jazz music, but also encouraged us to push our limits even further during the practices. We have two practices every week, Wednesday and Friday after school. Now, we are working on two different pieces: a Modal Jazz piece named Cantaloupe Island composed by Herbie Hancock and a Swing piece named Check Your Swing by Doug Beach. We are planning to present these two pieces at the upcoming Fall Fusion on November 1st. Being a part of the Jazz Band for one year, I really enjoyed playing in Jazz Band because it really requires me to improve my playing skills and at the same time provides a very groovy and fun environment to learn about different genres of Jazz.
