Grade 1-6 Admissions

Applying to Grades 1-6 at Mulgrave

Here you will find information about the application process for students entering Grade 1 to Grade 6.

About our Junior School Programme:

  • Mulgrave’s G1-5 classrooms are located on the top floor of our main building and are part of our Junior School division.
  • Grade 6 has a ‘mini-Middle School’ experience as they rotate through three classes on the second floor each day.
  • In Grades 1-3, we have three classes of 20-22 students with two fully-credentialed teachers per class.
  • In Grades 4-6, we have three classes of 21-22 students with one fully-credentialed teacher associate per grade.
  • Admission into these grades is only possible if there is attrition as none of our Junior School grades is an intake year.

Grades 1-3

Students applying to Grades 1-3 will be invited to sit a one-to-one assessment with an admissions officer. The application deadline is February 1st.

Grades 4-6

Students applying to Grades 4-6 will be invited to sit an online assessment and participate in a personal interview. The application deadline is February 1st.

The Admissions Process for Grade 1-6 Applicants

To apply for our Junior School programme, you should begin the application process in the fall prior to the year of entrance.

Step 1: To Start

Schedule a visit - We encourage you to visit our school so that you can experience the Mulgrave difference for yourself. You are welcome to attend one of our Admissions events or you can schedule a private tour with one of the members of our Admissions team.

Step 2: When You're Ready

Apply online - Once you have decided to pursue admission to Mulgrave, you will need to complete our online application.

Step 3: Thank you for applying!

Email confirmation - You will receive a confirmation email once you have completed the application and clicked the ‘submit’ button. If you do not receive that email within 24 hours, please contact us by emailing admissions@mulgrave.com.

Step 4: The Follow Up

Submit documents - The confirmation email will outline details about the documents we require. They include a Records Request Waiver Form and a copy of your child’s birth certificate or any other document that demonstrates your family’s status in Canada. Additionally, we ask that you submit copies of the last two reports you have received from your current school.

Reference Letter - To support your child's application, we recommend that you supplement your application with a letter of reference. It can be professional or personal. We ask that you only submit one letter per application.

Confidential Teacher Observation Form - This form is very helpful for the Admissions Committee, but we understand that many teachers, particularly in the public schools, will not complete it. Please let us know if that is the case, and we can determine a suitable alternative.

Step 5: Get to know you better...

Individual Assessments for Applicants to G1-3 - All students applying to Grades 1-3 with fully completed applications will be invited to an individual assessment meeting with an admissions officer. Once we know how many places we may have available for the following year, we will invite a select group of candidates to a small group assessment led by our teachers.

Group Assessment for Applicants to G4-6 - All students applying to Grades 4-6 with fully completed applications will be invited to a group assessment event where they will take an online assessment, have a personal interview, and participate in a group activity. A follow-up interview and teacher assessment will take place for select candidates once we know how many places we might have available for the following year.
