Grade 1-5 Admissions
Applying to Grades 1-5 at Mulgrave
Here you will find information about the application process for students entering Grade 1 to Grade 5.
About our Junior School Programme:
- Mulgrave’s G1-5 classrooms are located on the top two floors of our main building and are part of our Junior School division and are enhanced by access to a variety of specialist spaces. These include a science lab, art room, maker space, and language classrooms.
- In Grades 1-3, we have three classes of 20-21 students with two fully-credentialed teachers per class.
- In Grades 4-5, we have three classes of 20-22 students with one fully-credentialed teacher associate per grade.
- Admission into these grades is only possible if there is attrition as none of our Junior School grades is an intake year.
Grades 1 & 2
Students applying to Grades 1 & 2 will be invited to a small group visit with a member of our admissions team. They will participate in a variety of academic and non-academic activities that will allow us to learn more about their abilities and personalities. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to a group visit with our teachers in February. Our final deadline for Grade 1 & 2 applications is January 1st.
Grades 3-5
Students applying to Grades 3-5 will be invited to sit an online assessment and participate in a personal interview. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to a group visit with our teachers in February. The final application deadline is January 1st.
The Admissions Process for Grade 1-5 Applicants
To apply for our Junior School programme, you should begin the application process in the fall prior to the year of entrance.
Step 1: To Start
Schedule a visit - We encourage you to visit our school so that you can experience the Mulgrave difference for yourself. You are welcome to attend one of our Admissions events and you can schedule a private tour with one of the members of our Admissions team. Please click here to learn more and submit your RSVP.
Step 2: When You're Ready
Apply online - Once you have decided to pursue admission to Mulgrave, you will need to complete our online application.
Step 3: Thank you for applying!
Email confirmation - You will receive a confirmation email once you have completed the application and clicked the ‘submit’ button. If you do not receive that email within 24 hours, please contact us by emailing admissions@mulgrave.com.

Step 4: The Follow Up
Submit documents - Please access your dashboard to learn about the rest of the steps in the application process.
Family Reference Letter - To support your child's application, we recommend that you supplement your application with a letter of reference. It can be professional or personal. We ask that you only submit one letter per application.
Confidential Teacher Observation Form - This form (linked on your dashboard) is very helpful for the Admissions Committee, but we understand that many teachers, particularly in the local public schools, will not complete it. Our preference is for your child's teacher to complete this form. If that is not possible, you can request a student reference letter from a coach or tutor, focussing on your child's overall organisational skills, maturity, focus, and growth.
Step 5: Get to know you better...
Group Assessments for Applicants to G1 & 2 - All students applying to Grades 1 & 2 with fully completed applications will be invited to a group assessment led by a member of our admissions team. A follow-up interview and teacher assessment will take place for select candidates once we know how many places we might have available for the following year.
Group Assessment for Applicants to G3-5 - All students applying to Grades 3-5 with fully completed applications will be invited to an assessment event where they will take an online assessment and have a personal interview. A follow-up interview and teacher assessment will take place for select candidates once we know how many places we might have available for the following year.
Application Deadline
Applications for Grade 1-5 for the 2023-24 school year closed on January 1.

Please click here to fill out a short contact form. We will be happy to call you back with more information about Mulgrave and help you to register for one of our upcoming Admissions events.
Are you reapplying?
Admission into Grades 1-5 is very limited as space is only available if one of our students withdraws. We are therefore limiting the number of consecutive years that we can accept an application for any candidate to these grades. If you are applying to Grades 1-5 and have applied twice before, we may not be able to accept your application. Please contact us for more information if this applies to you.
Applicants from outside BC & Canada
