Silvia and her husband were Mulgrave parents while their daughter attended the school from Kindergarten through Grade 12 (2002-2015). Silvia volunteered at the school in many capacities and served as a member of the Mulgrave Board from 2013 to 2016.
Silvia completed a B.Sc. in Geology at the University of Massachusetts/Amherst and worked at the US Geological Survey in Reston, VA before coming to Canada in 1984 to attend Queen’s University. Here she earned a M.Sc. in Geological Sciences based on a geochronological study of rocks from the Cordillera Oriental in NW Bolivia. After moving from Ontario to British Columbia, Silvia spent over a decade working for a Canadian mine development company in the areas of mineral exploration and eventually acid rock drainage (water quality) environmental issues. Having retired from geology work some time ago, Silvia now enjoys spending her time travelling, hiking, and in the company of family and friends.
