Malik is a principal, with his brother Rahim, of the Talmont group of companies which they started while he was practising Tax Law at Thorsteinssons' Vancouver office.
In addition to his business responsibilities, Malik actively engages in the development of organisations and community. He has been appointed by His Highness, the Aga Khan, in several leadership positions in the Ismaili Muslim community locally and globally. Malik was the Vice-Chair of the Research Institute of BC, has co-chaired the United Way of the Lower Mainland, served as Director of the BC Children's Hospital Foundation and LIFT Philanthropy Partners (formerly, 2010 Legacies Now) and the Vancouver Foundation.
He is a member of the Mulgrave Board Governance Committee and Chairs the Strategic Planning Committee. Malik and his wife, Shahzma, have been parents at Mulgrave since 2008. They have two children who have graduated from Mulgrave and one child currently enroled in the school.
