ADMISSIONS: Why Mulgrave?

Mulgrave School (K-12) is a non-denominational, coeducational IB World School, located on the forested slopes of Vancouver’s North Shore, overlooking a magnificent city, harbour and the Pacific Ocean westward.  Experienced and talented teachers from over 13 countries provide a comprehensive and challenging curriculum to 750 students from 30 countries. Within the framework of the International Baccalaureate, the teachers believe in developing the individual skills of each learner.  Students are inspired to be creative problem solvers, effective communicators, lifelong learners and young leaders who demonstrate international understanding and meaningful action as responsible citizens in a global community.

A day school, Mulgrave encourages its students to reach their highest goals in a Renaissance approach to education, one which fosters the development of the whole child. The school is highly valued for its positive community feel and for its vibrant atmosphere, where academic rigour and breadth of educational experiences are seen as keys to student success. Action, service, leadership and personal goal setting are inherent in the school’s ethos, as is a culture of positive and intrinsic discipline.  Celebrating cultural diversity, developing intellectual abilities, and promoting athletic and artistic promise are fundamental components of a Mulgrave education.

Mulgrave School provides an intimate, highly-personalised atmosphere in which students are enabled to learn in a totally safe and stimulating environment. Despite our growth in size, we maintain the pastoral care so distinctive to Mulgrave.  Our Primary Years Programme for K to 6 (accredited), *Middle Years Programme for Grade 7 to 10 (candidate status) and Diploma Programme for Grades 11 to 12 (accredited) engage our students on a daily basis.  (* Anticipated accreditation Fall 2008).

We recognise that, in the achievement of these goals, the key elements are:

  • absolute commitment to a culture of praise
  • quality teaching staff and on-going professional development
  • involvement of and the communication with parents, and the nurturing of the triangle of responsibility, which involves students, parents and teachers

Our ambitions are that each and every Mulgravian will:
  • strive for academic excellence
  • balance competitiveness and ambition with integrity and empathy toward others
  • take advantage of the best possible opportunities for aesthetic, physical and intellectual development
  • develop an understanding of the world beyond Mulgrave, through international links and action on behalf of the less privileged

We are committed to these aims and welcome your interest in Mulgrave School.
