ADMISSIONS: Application Process
Although Mulgrave School has application deadlines for the various grades, students for the following September are accepted on a continuous basis throughout the year, providing there are spaces. The application process is as follows:
Applying for admission
We invite you to contact the Admissions Department to arrange an appointment for a student-led tour of the school and an interview with the Director of Admissions.
When applying to the school, the following documents should be forwarded to the Admissions office:
- Completed Application Form. CLICK HERE to download the form
- A recent passport photo
- Completed Teacher Observation form from the applicant’s school. CLICK HERE to download (must be submitted with application form)
- A letter of reference from a community member
- A signed waiver that allows Mulgrave School to contact the student's previous school and obtain any records that may be relevant to the current application CLICK HERE to download, (must be submitted with application form)
- Copies of the previous year's Report Cards as well as a copy of the most recent Report Card
- Copy of applicant’s birth certificate
- Application Fee of $250.00 for entry into Kindergarten to Grade 6. For students entering the Senior School a fee of $200 is paid to the school and the posted fee for the SSAT assessment. (See Senior School Admissions)
When the Admissions Office has received the above, you will be contacted to arrange an assessment date and time. Formal interviews and assessments are not arranged until the application form and fee have been submitted.
The duration of assessments for G1 to G6 is approximately 1 hour. The SSAT assessment for G7 to G12 it is approximately 3 hours. Kindergarten students undergo a School Readiness Assessment in January of each year.
Assessment of Students
As an independent school, we strive to create a learning environment that is conducive to the growth and well being of all the students in the community, assessments are an integral part of our screening process. The criteria we set are as follows: in Kindergarten, we are looking for school readiness as well as social and emotional maturity and in G1 to G12 we conduct an academic evaluation and an interview. The following factors are used in consideration for admission:
- Determining that the school can meet the child’s learning needs
- Parental understanding and support of Mulgrave School’s philosophy and practices
- Skill sets
- Parent and student interviews
Selection Process
Once the selection process has taken place, all candidates will be contacted by the Admissions Office in writing.
The Admissions Office reserves the right to request any additional information before a decision for admission is made. Providing false or incomplete information on application for admission may result in a denial of entry or revocation of enrolment.
