The student fees are dependent on the school receiving the per student operating grant from the province of British Columbia. If you have any questions on qualifying for the grant please contact the Admissions office.
- Siblings of Mulgrave students will receive a $500 discount on tuition fees. This discount is deducted from the July 2, 2009 payment.
- Payments can be made with cash, cheque, debit card, or electronic funds transfer through your financial institution.
- If the student fees remain unpaid at the end of any term, the student will not be permitted to return to class until the account has been brought up to date. In the event that an account remains unpaid at the end of any year, the student will not be permitted to return to Mulgrave until the account is fully paid.
- IB Diploma course tuition fees and exam fees may be eligible for an income tax deduction. Mulgrave School will provide income tax receipts for this at the end of each calendar year.
- The Consolidated Extras fees, listed above, covers the cost of grade camps, mandatory field trips, technology consumable supplies and the Mulgrave Yearbook.
Any fees outstanding for more than 30 days will be assessed an interest charge of 2% per month (24% per annum).
- Mulgrave Bonds
• Mulgrave School has issued debentures for the purposes of acquiring the land and construction of the school at the Cypress campus.
• All new families joining the School are required to invest $25,000 per family in Mulgrave bonds which are interest bearing at 4.75%.
• All new families must have their Mulgrave bonds purchased by July 2, 2009 or immediately upon acceptance, if accepted after July 2, 2009.

3) Mulgrave Tuition Refund Plan
The Tuition Refund Plan is a programme which may provide a refund of tuition fees if, for any reason, the student does not complete the academic year. This is the only refund programme offered which may result in the reduction or refund of any fees payable under this contract, and must be purchased prior to the start of school in September. This plan is mandatory for all families opting for Mulgrave’s monthly payment plan. It is optional for those families who pay the annual fees in full, in advance of the school year.
Why is the plan important?
Parents should fully understand their annual financial obligation for tuition and other fees. The school takes on financial commitments for salaries and maintenance on an annual basis, and the absence, dismissal or withdrawal of a student does not reduce these operating expenses. Therefore, most schools, out of necessity, must take the position that there can be neither refund of fees paid nor cancellation of unpaid fee obligations.
As the school makes annual financial commitments so too should a parent make a financial commitment for the full academic year. In the vast majority of cases, this works without incident. Unfortunately, some students do not complete their full academic year. Therefore, having a programme in place to deal with such situations can be a welcome resource.
Definitions
All refunds are based on the academic year as published in the school calendar, including weekends, holidays and vacations within this period.
“Withdrawal” means complete voluntary termination of enrolment in the school for the balance of the academic year.
“Dismissal” means complete involuntary termination of enrolment in the school by the school authorities for scholastic or disciplinary reasons, for failure to keep accounts current, or for lack of support of the School’s mission, goals and policies (by the student or the student’s parents), for the balance of the academic year.
“Class days” means days of normal academic instruction including examination days, but excluding registration, graduation, and orientation days.
“Temporary” means fewer than 31 consecutive days.
Cost
In order to implement this Plan, a $400.00 fee will be assessed and added to the annual billing for those who register in this programme. This fee must be received with your first tuition payment (July or September) for all re-registering students or within two weeks of registration for all new registrants. The Tuition Refund Plan may not be paid for in monthly instalments.
Refunds are made for:
1. Death or absence or withdrawal of the student for medical reasons: 100% of the unused fees (prorated for every class day lost) provided the medical disability is certified by a legally qualified physician or surgeon, and is not temporary.
2. Non-medical withdrawal or dismissal:
a) Withdrawal: 75% of the unused fees (prorated for every class day lost)
b) Dismissal: 75% of the unused fees (prorated for every class day lost)
Refund Formula
The formula used to calculate the amount of the pro-rated refund payment is the ratio of the number of days left in the school year, divided by the total number of days in the school year as a percentage, times the annual tuition amount. In the case of withdrawal for non-medical reasons, the maximum refund available is 75% of annual tuition.
1. Events for which refunds are not given in the case of absence or withdrawal for medical reason:
a) Absence or withdrawal is temporary.
b) Absence or withdrawal due to any medical condition for which the student does not regularly receive treatment by a legally qualified physician or surgeon during the period of absence or withdrawal.
c) Absence or withdrawal due to the use of any drug, narcotic, or an agent which is similarly classed or has similar effects, unless it is given by, and while under the care and attendance of, a legally qualified physician or surgeon.
d) Death, absence or withdrawal due to self-inflicted injuries or suicide.
2. Events for which refunds are not given in the case of non-medical absence, withdrawal or dismissal:
a) Temporary non-medical absence or suspension.
b) Withdrawal or absence from class attendance for the balance of the academic year due to early completion of academic requirements or early graduation.
c) Withdrawal or dismissal caused by insurrection, rebellion, riot, civil commotion or any governmental order directed to the student.
d) Boycotting of classes by the student.
Mulgrave Tuition Fee Assistance Programme
-
Mulgrave families who experience difficulty with financing the continuation of their child’s Mulgrave experience are encouraged, as a first step, to contact (in confidence) the Admissions Office to make application for support. (This application should be initiated as early in the enrolment process as possible.)
-
The School will then provide the family with an application which will include a form to be submitted upon completion to an independent assessor. All steps in this entire process will be kept confidential.
-
The report from the assessor will be submitted to Mr. Macoun who will review the needs of the family and compare these with the findings of the assessor and the resources available to him to apply as assistance.
-
He will then determine an allocation which will be awarded for a two or three year period. Should on going support be required in subsequent years, a further report from the assessor will be required.
-
These allocations will be kept private and only the Head of School, the Admissions Office and the Accounts staff will be aware of which students are receiving help from the Tuition Fee Assistance Programme.
