Southern Africa/Swaziland: Service, Culture and Wildlife
This year, the grade 11 and 12 students will once again venture to South Africa and Swaziland. This unique Mulgrave project focuses on service, outreach and culture and targets underprivileged communities in the Mbabane region of Swaziland, particularly involving the SOS Children’s Village. Mbabane, the capital of Swaziland, provides our students with many opportunities to gain an authentic Southern African experience. As this trip is primarily service-based, participants must be willing to work hard; manual labour is high on the agenda! Apart from volunteering with SOS, we also work with, and assist, other underprivileged communities alongside the IB students of Waterford Kamhlaba, the United World College of Southern Africa (http://www.waterford.sz/). Under the guidance of The Water School (http://www.thewaterschool.org/), the Mulgrave students will also continue with the SODIS water purification project that we had initiated two years ago. We will be travelling to Southern Africa from June 30 to July 18, 2009. Please contact Mr Eddie de Beer (edebeer@mulgrave.com) if you have any questions, and click here to view the itinerary.
