Mulgrave Communications – Overview

Dear Parents,

The following information provides you with a snapshot overview of Mulgrave Communications and how you can expect to find information relayed to you during the course of the school year.

Key Points

  • At Mulgrave, we try to be as paperless as possible, which means we will endeavour to use electronic communication as much as we can. This includes depending on our parents to be regularly visiting the website and checking email.
  • It is essential we have your correct email address. If your email address changes during the course of the year, please be sure to update it in the PCR Parent Portal.
  • In the event of school closures and/or delayed starts you will be alerted through our text messaging system, (in addition to updates posted on the website). Please note it is essential we have your correct cell phone information. The number to which the text will be sent is Parent 1 in the PCR Parent Portal. If you wish to add a second cell phone number to our distribution list, please contact David Lo in our IT Dept.
  • Much of your time spent on our website will be in the password protected MulgraveNET area. Here you will access your child’s Class Pages, Report Cards, Parent/Teacher Conferences, etc.
  • We have created a Website HELP section on our site to assist with any difficulty or questions you may have on how to access items in MulgraveNET. We urge you to read the Website HELP section thoroughly.
  • All current parents have the ability to login to MulgraveNET. Students in Grade 3 and above will also be issued login access.
  • If you have difficulties logging in to the site, or difficulty receiving email, please contact Carla Donnelly.

How is Key Information Delivered at Mulgrave?
Please have a look below for some of the main communication tools and structures we have in place.

Connexions: Weekly Electronic Newsletter

Mulgrave Connexions is available every Friday. Parents and faculty will be notified via email when the newsletter is available. Mulgrave Connexions is targeted to the whole school, but presents information regarding each division. News highlights, photos and upcoming major events are featured.

Website News

Select News items are featured in the weekly newsletters, as well available for viewing under the following categories:

  • Public News (Main Page of the website)
  • ELC News
  • Junior School News
  • Middle School News
  • Senior School News
  • MVP News

These News areas are located in a protected area of our website (MulgraveNET). News stories may be written by various faculty members, and forwarded to divisional Principals or to the Communications Department.

School Calendar

The School Calendar is updated regularly and available in the protected, MulgraveNET area of our website. Please note, each week in the newsletter, upcoming events will be listed to assist parents in keeping important dates in mind.


Text Messages

In the event of a school closure or delayed start, a text message will be sent to parents. Please see information above on keeping your cell phone information up to date in PCR.

Broadcast Emails

Although kept to a minimum, we will send electronic letters to parents and faculty. These letters are targeted to either specific audiences, or contain pertinent information which we want to ensure is read by families. Typically, you will receive emails for the following:

  • Notification that the weekly newsletter, Mulgrave Connexions is now available
  • Letters from the Head
  • Letters from the Board Chair
  • Letters from Advancement

Student Announcements & Portfolio News

Generated weekly by Antony Wilson, Director of Student Life, Student Announcements are read over the school-wide PA system each Monday morning, as well as posted on the website.

Class Pages

Junior and Upper students will have Class Pages. Here teachers will post important class messages, homework, photo galleries, etc. If you are unsure how to locate your child’s Class Page, please visit the Website HELP section for assistance or contact Carla Donnelly.

Report Cards /
Student Led Conferences

Report Cards are distributed electronically three times per school year. (ELC, two terms per year.) You will be required to login to MulgraveNET to access them in the PCR Parent Portal. For detailed information on how to access, please see the Website HELP section for assistance.

Parents will be given ample notice when Report Cards are available for viewing. Subsequent sign-up for Parent/Student/Teacher Conferences is also accessed in the same area of the website.

MVP Open Door Sessions

The Mulgrave Volunteer Parents (MVP) regularly hosts informal presentations on a variety of topics. Look for these advertised in the weekly newsletter or in the MVP area of the website.

Parent Information Sessions

The range of topics on these sessions is too numerous to list. However, if there is a Parent Information Session that is specific to your family, we strongly urge you to attend. These events will be featured in the weekly newsletter. Very often, follow-up materials will be posted on the school website if families are unable to attend.

Video Wall

The Video Wall is located in the main foyer of Mulgrave School and is updated daily. Check here for daily announcements, cafeteria specials, games of the week and upcoming events. Video and photo galleries are also featured.
