China G7-9

Historical and Contemporary China

The China Connection trips allow students to observe and explore the rapid industrial development that has been and is occurring in China.

The curriculum pairs the historic Industrial Revolution in England with the modern one China is currently experiencing. Students will have the opportunity to visit many historic sites including the Great Wall and the Forbidden City. In addition, they will visit traditional silk weaving manufacturers to see how the industry has changed.

This trip will also include a cultural exchange with a Chinese school where students will have the opportunity to practice Mandarin and learn more about Chinese culture. The final element of this trip will have a humanitarian focus, where students will interact with the children in the SOS Children’s Village in Tianjin.

2011-2012 details will be posted soon.
