Vocal Ensembles

Both the choir and the auditioned ensembles learn and perform a variety of material including musical theatre, jazz, pop and traditional repertoire.

The programmes also include the use of choreography, staging, costumes, lighting, mics and PA systems.

In addition to several performances in the year, there is one field trip (with a fee) to a large professional recording studio where the singers have the opportunity to record some of their repertoire.

The Upper School Choir is established and new students are always welcome to join. No audition is required. This course is designed to provide basic vocal and performance training (including staging and movement) through exciting repertoire in a variety of genres.

  • Full year commitment
  • This is a course and as such, participants will receive a fine arts credit

We have had a great response to auditions for Jazz Vocal Ensemble. There are so many students with fabulous voices that we now have two groups – one for the senior school and one for the middle school. The Jazz Vocal Ensemble is intended for more advanced singers who have previous musical experience in solo performance and harmony singing. It involves advanced vocal technique, group and solo singing, staging and choreography, performance skills and mic technique.
