Welcome to Mulgrave's Global Outreach Programme
Service Learning through Action
Global Outreach at Mulgrave describes our Middle and Senior School service learning and action programme. Our goals underlie our philosophy: to reach out and give a hand up to help those in need. 
This programme aims to:
· Develop global awareness
· Offer service opportunities locally and internationally
· Foster compassion and empathy
· Cultivate connections, friendship and team work
· Participate in collaborative aid initiatives
· Provide experiential learning opportunities
· Promote cultural understanding
· Engage in humanitarian action team projects
· Explore new environments
Global Outreach embodies the ethos of the International Baccalaureate Programmes. Students are encouraged to:
· ask challenging questions and think critically
· experience service learning in action
· broaden their perspectives on the global society
· teach and lead by example
· develop a strong sense of their own identity and culture
· broaden their communication skills
· meet the IBDP core requirements for Creativity, Action and Service

2009 — 2010 Upcoming Events:
In order to secure a spot on a trip, a non-refundable deposit of $350 is due by November 30, 2009. Please note the deadlines and payment requirements specified in the Booking and Registration form.

Students' fund raising initiatives and events, in-kind donations and monetary gifts were fundamental in fullfilling our Global Outreach service goals. The events included the Magic of Christmas, shoe drives, cultural lunches, rose sales, movie matinees, personal donations and more.
The benefits and services that these events have provided to date are:
- Improved living conditions in Central America (joint venture with Habitat for Humanity) plus assistance to community schools and a nursery centre http://www.habitatcostarica.org/
- Supplies for the SOS Children's Villages (http://www.soschildrensvillages.ca/)
- Musical instruments, clothing, books and art supplies for Cuban children and students
- Assistance with foster care payments for our 2 foster children in Ghana and South Africa (Foster Parent Plan, World Vision)
- Books for schools in Costa Rica and Swaziland
- Support for clean drinking water community education in Africa
