SCHOOL LIFE: Middle School
Mulgrave students begin their formal school day at 8:15am and attend four classes with breaks for recess and lunch. On Mondays, the class schedule accommodates two special programmes: Our Silent Reading Programme, which requires all Middle School students to regularly read novels of appropriate level, and our Renaissance Activity Programme, which requires students to sample a diverse variety of Athletics, Arts and Citizenship activities. The formal academic day ends at 3:30pm, when our co-curricular activities swing into action. Students have the opportunity to participate in a variety of co-curricular activities from sports teams to arts-based and academic enrichment activities. Middle School students are expected to complete the equivalent of 60-90 minutes of homework, five days per week, to maintain their academic standing. Mulgrave Student Council plays a central role in student leadership and charitable endeavours, both within and beyond the campus, as well as in organizing fun events such as ‘civvies’ days, school dances and our student-led assemblies. Communication within the Middle School community is maintained primarily through the homeroom teacher, as well as through the Upper School News, an informational newsletter published to the school website on a monthly basis.
