Dear Parents,
Appointments for 2008/09
I am pleased to be able to share with you the following appointments for the next school year.
1. Eddie de Beer will be stepping down from the position of Principal of the Senior School and will assume the title of "Assistant Head of School". He will be responsible for coordinating the operations of the whole school, working closely with the Principals. This will free me up to focus more on the growing strategic agenda.
2. Stella Ablett will extend her responsibilities and become "Assistant Head, Academics," with curriculum responsibilities for the programmes from K through 12.
3. Derek Muzyka will focus more specifically on financial affairs and have the title of "Director of Finance". He will pass over to Eddie de Beer some of his operations responsibilities.
As you know, Mr. Greg Cusbert has given notice that he will be leaving Mulgrave at the end of the year after truly outstanding service as the Principal of the Junior School. As a consequence, we have been conducting a search for his replacement as well as appointing a new Principal of the Senior School to take over this role from Mr. de Beer, given his new responsibilities.
4. I am very pleased to be able to announce that Ms Karyn Mitchell will take over as Principal of the Junior School. She has extensive experience as both an Elementary School teacher and more recently teaching Middle and Senior School programmes. She is currently the Vice-Principal of the Senior School at Mulgrave. Please see attached a statement Ms. Mitchell has prepared regarding her appointment as Principal of the Junior School. Read More...
5. It is also my pleasure to announce that Mr. Michael Moore will become the Principal of the Senior School from this summer. An experienced educator and administrator, Michael comes originally from South Africa where he received his training and early experience. Then he and his wife, Elisabeth, moved to Britain where they taught for nearly 17 years. Michael joined Mulgrave in September 2007 where he has been teaching Science and Mathematics in the Senior School. Read More...
These appointments will provide the school with a strong revised structure of leadership which in turn will provide stability and continuity while adapting to changing circumstances. We are indeed fortunate to have such experienced and able educators on our staff to lead the school into 2008/09.
Sincerely,

Tony Macoun
