Mulgrave is an independent, secular co-educational school which is committed to providing an excellent academic programme from Pre-K through Grade 12. Mulgrave offers a vibrant Outdoor Education Programme that engages students in all grades Pre-K through 12 throughout the year in experiences outside the classroom. We value the opportunity for students to make links between outdoor education and school learning experiences. We are now inviting applications for the position of Outdoor Education specialist to work seasonally with the OE Team in all facets of the program.

Job summary

This is a valuable role in the development of Mulgrave’s Outdoor Education program. The successful applicant will be a passionate and enthusiastic outdoor educator, who will be responsible for the planning and execution of the school’s extensive program, in partnership with the existing Outdoor Education team.

Qualifications:

Successful candidates will possess all or most of the following qualifications:

  • Canadian residency or be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Valid BC Teaching Certificate OR significant experience working with K-12 students in an outdoor education setting.
  • Demonstrated excellence in interacting with students of a variety of ages
  • Strong organisational, communication, administrative and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Clear vision of the role that outdoor education plays in the personal development of young people
  • Commitment to the highest standards of professional conduct in relation to risk management and adhering to outdoor industry best practices

Seasonal Full-time hours: Full time commitment needed within the following peak Outdoor Education time periods: Mid-August to Early October, Mid-Jan to March. There is a possibility of further work on top of these times.

Salary:

Based on a rate of $275/day for expeditions and $200/day for non expedition work.
