CURRICULUM: University Planning
College or university planning is an important process, and can be stressful for some students. It is normally comprised of three-stages: selection, application and decision making; it is crucial that students adhere to the timelines set by the universities. To assist our students in making informed choices and navigating through the process, Mr Luke Lawson, Director of University Counselling, [llawson@mulgrave.com] is available to meet with students and their families. Please contact him should you wish to set up an appointment. Also, please direct any application queries and transcript requests to Mr Lawson.
To begin the post-secondary planning process with our grade 10 students this year, we have secured the services of Dr Whitney Laughlin, a reputable educational consultant who works in both Canada and the United States. We have asked Dr Laughlin to meet with each and every one of our grade 10 students to provide individual guidance regarding post-secondary options. Mulgrave School is happy to offer this initial consultation free of charge.
Dr Laughlin has 30 years experience in post-secondary admissions, career and financial aid counselling. She has published numerous articles and given many presentations on financial aid, multicultural education, and accessing highly regarded institutions. A member of IECA (Independent Educational Consultants Association) and NACAC (National Association for College Admission Counselling), she has worked in the Harvard College Admission Office and has been the Director of Admissions at Hawaii Preparatory Academy, Native American Preparatory School, and Verde Valley School.
