TRUTH, A HINT OF HUBRIS, AND THE IB EVALUATION

By: Gordon MacIntyre

For three days, a highly experienced team of six IB evaluators representing the PYP, MYP and DP poured over every detail of our curriculum, visited every classroom, examined every teacher's planning documents, and interviewed panels of teachers, students, parents, and Board Members. They made measured judgements as to whether Mulgrave met the rigourous standards and practices the IB sets for schools.

In its final 43-page report, the IB evaluation team noted 105 commendations against only 15 recommendations. There were no serious matters to be addressed. The 7:1 ratio of commendations to recommendations is exemplary.

Dear Math,

Will you be my Valentine? My sweetie 'pi'? My 1 and only?

Your beauty transcends nature and that attracts me! I find your patterns everywhere, in the steps of Mulgrave, within my beating heart, in the petals of a flower, or my favourite - a sequence of numbers!

And can I talk about your shape and symmetry? So many dimensions that transform you! I can always find a new attribute with which to measure you by! Oh my!  Read more here >>

SERVICE & LEADERSHIP NEWS

Image

This Valentine's Day MSAC and the G6 Leadership Team have invited all students to wear Red and White Civvies and 'Share the Love' by contributing to Mulgrave's Sharing is Caring Personal Care Item Drive. The drive will support the Cinderella Project, a non-profit charity founded in West Vancouver 18 years ago that aims to bring community members together to help break the cycle of poverty in Vancouver. Every year, The Cinderella Project puts together an event that celebrates high school students who, despite abuse, neglect, and extreme poverty have achieved high school graduation. Learn more here.

There's a snowstorm of exciting opportunities to get students engaged in awareness and action campaigns in the coming months before March break, from our Valentine's Drive for the Cinderella Project to the Grams fundraiser for the Indo-Africa Charity to Pink Day, to Spirit Week's support for a more inclusive LGBTQ2+ school culture where everyone is 'safe to be who you are'. There are so many opportunities to take on action projects that support your Passport plans.

Check out these opportunities and more here on TMC.
