'AGAINST PROGRESS' PREMIERES TONIGHT

Tonight, the community is being treated to the premiere of Mulgrave's Against Progress,  the first part of playwright's Esteve Soler Against trilogy (Against Progress, Against Love and Against Democracy). Performers, whom you can get to know here, have worked hard to prepare a thought-provoking play that will spur important conversations about our values as a community and society.

The production is free to attend and the recommended age is for students G8 and up. RSVP's are highly encouraged given seating is being designed with the play's theme in mind. To RSVP click here. There will be a second production tomorrow, Saturday, at 7:00pm.

GOING FOR GOLD

Image

We have been celebrating the great success of Mulgrave athletes who are taking their passion for a chosen sport to amazing heights. Recent accolades include Nicholas H.'s silver medal at the BC Provincial Taekwondo Masters Cup black belt sparring competition, in which he represented the North Shore Taekwondo Marshal Arts School. Following two tough qualifying matches, Nick advanced to the finals against a higher level and more experienced opponent. Learn about this and other successes in our Going for Gold page. Have a story to share? Email us so we may spotlight it on the page.

INSIDE THE CLASSROOM - G10 PERSONAL PROJECTS

Did you know that Central Africa has lost 64% of its elephant population in the last decade? Or that more than 100,000 African elephants were illegally poached between the years of 2010-2012? In the last four years, the wholesale price of raw ivory in China tripled, reaching a per kilo dollar price of $2,100 USD thus threatening our elephant population today and as a result negatively impacting our environment. Curious?

We were too, so we asked Marla R. to share more about the work she is doing as part of her G10 MYP Personal Project. Learn more here and find out how you can help the cause.

PHILANTHROPY & GIVING DURING THE GIVING SEASON

By: Laura Walsh
'Tis the season. Did you know that 40% of the total donations to charities made by Canadians are made in the last six weeks of the calendar year (November 15th to December 31st)?  As much as charities would love for donors to spread their giving throughout the year, the reality is people love to be generous at this time of year!

Instead of typical holiday gifts like chocolates for your clients or friends, consider making a donation in someone's honour to a local charity.

Many parents and grandparents discuss philanthropic priorities with their children and grandchildren, choosing to make a family decision about these priorities. If you are not already doing this, we encourage you to do the same. Click here to learn more.

MULGRAVE AT PROVINCIALS

Image

Our Provincial Cross Country team was the largest in Mulgrave's history. The Junior Girls, qualified as a team and we had four individual runners who qualified as well. To put it in perspective, Mulgrave's previous two trips to Provincials had a single runner qualifying. This was a BIG EVENT and Mulgrave outdid itself. Click here to read Mr. Moore's race report.
