PROFILE IN EXCELLENCE - NATASSJA BY

Meet Ms. By - musician, student, artist, teacher, and champion of music the world over. On this art-focussed issue of Connexions, we are choosing to spotlight one of Mulgrave's most notable arts ambassadors. As our Head of Performing Arts and a leader within the Arts Department, Ms. By is at the forefront of making the arts a discipline that our students value while in school and long after they have gone.

Ms. By is Mulgrave's 2015-16 Tony Allard Award recipient and shares with us the impact of the award on her growth as a musician and a teacher. Click here to read more.

Black Box production of Against Progress, the first part of playwright's Esteve Soler Against trilogy (Against Progress, Against Love and Against Democracy). Admission is free of charge. To RSVP click here.

This production's intimate setting, radical and thought-provoking content, and small cast represents an intentional shift from past years' productions in order to offer our SS students a balanced learning opportunity; one that relies less on technical and staging aspects to tell the story and more on their ability to immerse themselves in the characters to convey a message. typically require. Appropriate for parents and any student G9-11 considering a post-secondary architecture, graphic design or art school, we hope you can take advantage of this great opportunity. RSVP here.

MULGRAVE'S PERFORMING ARTS STRENGTHENED THROUGH IMAGINE CAMPAIGN

Image

Remember the days when your children's snacks and lunches were served from our School's Theatre?  It seems like a distant memory but even a year ago the Theatre served as our cafeteria and kitchen, which of course limited our Performing Arts program! Through generous contributions made by many of you to the Imagine Mulgrave Capital campaign, our students have benefitted significantly from facility improvements and as a result, a stronger and richer academic program. Click here to read how this has had an impact on current students and alumni.

MEET OUR ATHLETES OF THE MONTH

Trips to Provincials, medals and great upsets were a few of the highlights that marked the end of our fall term sports season. As remarkable as those are, what makes the season a great one is our Titans and their leadership, sportsmanship and motivation to always give 100%. Click here for the full story.

HIGHLIGHTING ALUMNI IN THE ARTS

Image

Through film, theatre, art, and music, we have had many students excel in the Arts at Mulgrave. When our alumni say what they appreciate most about Mulgrave's Arts programme, they often refer back to the department's teachers and their commitment to designing lessons, securing resources, and finding opportunities to stoke students' imagination while giving them the confidence to take risks. Get to know some of our alumni involved in the arts here.

MULGRAVE ARTISTS SHINE

It is always a great source of pride for students and members of the Mulgrave community to learn and support the work of Mulgrave artists in and outside the school. Today, we celebrate Augustin, Daniel and Luke, whose talents and hard work have taken them to local and international stages. Learn more here.

ARTS COUNCIL REPORT ON THE ARTS - DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY

These past few weeks, in Tuesday's Digital Photography elective, we have been working hard to create unique and interesting photos that bring different aspects into play. We have been developing our skills since the very first class, working with perspective, shutters, artsy self portraits, contrast, luminosity, framework, and more. In our most recent class, we brought in the aspect of movement to our photos as well.  Click here to learn more.
