CIS & IB ACCREDITATION VISIT WRAPS UP

Image

Yesterday, as the CIS and IB Accreditation Team shared an overview of their observations with Mulgrave faculty and staff, we were overcome with gratitude to be part of such a special community of teachers, students and parents. Thanks to everyone who participated in the interviews and evaluations. Your support was instrumental in our successful completion of this part of the accreditation process. We should be receiving the final report from the committee in the coming months and will share their findings with the community. In the meantime, here is a link to yesterday's closing presentation (portal login required).

CULTIVATING A SPIRIT OF GRATITUDE IS GOOD FOR YOUR HEALTH

The Advancement team (Laura, Karen, Kim and Shellina) would love to send a message of gratitude and thanks to the entire Mulgrave community for the myriad of ways you give back to the school and the wider community. We are full of gratitude for the amazing sense of community at Mulgrave.

Did you know that scientific research performed in recent years has shown that both giving and cultivating a spirit of gratitude are good for our health! Here's an interesting Mclean's article that goes into more detail about the health benefits behind generosity and gratitude.

We wish you a Happy Thanksgiving together with family and friends. Enjoy the break.

INSIDE THE CLASSROOM - 4T (By Andrew L. and Kiera L. )

When we went to Grade 4 Camp, we learned about the five points of the green star; Toxins, Food, Water, Waste and Carbon. We were inspired by the point about toxins and how lots of animals die because of what goes down the drain. When we got home, we found out how many chemicals we use. We took action by making non-toxic sprays, including furniture polish and glass and mirror cleaner. We got this idea from wanting to make non-toxic soap but it was too hard. Then we found a recipe for eco-friendly sprays that was easy and fun. Now, we do not have to use 'Windex' or other chemical spray brands. - A & K

To make your own non-toxic cleaner, click here for the students' recipe.

MVP SPOTLIGHT - HARRY HOLE

Under BC's new Societies Act, Mulgrave was required to rewrite the bylaws under which our Independent School Society and Board govern. It was a laborious process that has been completed successfully thanks to the work of Harry, who in addition to being Issac H.'s (G11) dad, serves as Secretary on Mulgrave's Board of Directors. The focus of our most recent MVP Spotlight, Harry shares with us why he volunteers, as well as some of his favourite things. Get to know more about Harry.
