SCHOOL SPIRIT AT MULGRAVE

Image

This week, we took to the hallways, the courts, and the field to chat with students about how they define school spirit. Time and time again, students shared that everyone's commitment to making our community and our school a great place to be is what makes Mulgrave's school spirit soar.

Whether we are wearing our House colours (as the Upper School did this week during their Terry Fox Run), cheering for our teams, being of service at school and in the community, or by participating in school events, students love showing their school spirit. Want to see for yourself? MULGRAVE JOINS FREEKICKS TO CELEBRATE FRIENDSHIP

Image

Representing Mulgrave in community events is often cited by students as a favourite way to show school spirit. Last Friday, a group of Grades 6 & 7 students got to do just that at the 2nd Annual Spirit of Togetherness (Elementary School Soccer Jamboree). This event united students from schools across the Lower Mainland and West Vancouver, many of which face different challenges in life. Freekicks.org, lead by Adam Aziz, alongside Catherine Schier, did an amazing job hosting this event. Freekicks is a non-profit organisation that utilises soccer as a vehicle to inspire youth around the world to dream. Click here to learn more.

IT WOULD'T BE SOCCER WITHOUT THE (C)(K)ARLS

We were overjoyed to have alumni, Karl-Lukas Steiniger (right), captain of Mulgrave's 2015-16 Sr. Boys Soccer Team, and Carl Steffens (left), Deputy Head Boy and sweeper for the team, come out to cheer on our current students at the ISAA tournament in Victoria two weekends ago. They warmed up with the boys, cheered them on from the sidelines, and even FaceTimed in fellow 2016 alum and teammate, Mats Van Rhijn, all the way from Holland!

School spirit is what brings students together and unites an entire school and community. It can be found throughout Mulgrave, on our field, in the hallways, or in the theatre - but it extends beyond our walls, and even beyond our current students to our alumni community. Thanks for coming to cheer us on, (C)(K)arl!

INSIDE THE CLASSROOM - CLASS 5J

Image

The Grade 5 students have been learning about the different qualities of a leader through a range of different government styles around the world. The students in 5M worked on a project in which each one had to choose a leader that they felt had an impact on society. They then created  art images which included unique symbols that reflect the leader's personality. The students had to imagine they were going to interview their leader, and had to come up with one question they would ask if they ever had the opportunity to meet them. Click here to watch a video showcasing their art and interview questions.
