TEACHER SPOTLIGHT: MELISSA MOORE

Image

Meet Melissa Moore - Middle School Vice Principal, admired coach, avid athlete and our students' most impassioned cheerleader.

If a team leader is a person who instills

confidence and provides guidance, inspiration, and structure, then perhaps nobody fits the bill better than Ms. Moore. A true leader bred from years of playing team sports, Melissa has

effortlessly translated her knowledge of athletics and leadership into her day-to-day routine with students.

NEWS FROM THE DIVISIONS

PEOPLE OF MULGRAVE - JESSICA HU (G11)

This week we interviewed Jessica H. (G11) who has a big weekend coming up.

This Saturday and Sunday from 11:00am to 1:00pm, Jessica's fashion designs will be featured along with designs from well-known labels and designers in Vancouver's Kids Fashion Show (part of Vancouver Fashion Week). The aspiring architect decided to try her hand at fashion design after her Mulgrave art teacher sent her information about a competition by the event organizer. She was the only student picked to exhibit her work, something she is "surprised by, but proud of." Watch the full interview here.

CONGRATULATIONS SUB LIEUTENANT MECH ('09)

It's always exciting to see the various ways in which our alumni are excelling in their personal pursuits. This week, word reached us that, in late August, Anders Mech (Class of 2009) recently graduated as Acting Sub Lieutenant from Maritime Officer - Surface Phase II in Victoria. Anders was awarded the Hal Lawrence Memorial Shield which is given to the student who demonstrates leadership and teamwork. Well done, Anders. Congratulations!

LIBRARY AND LEARNING CENTRE HAPPENINGS

Last Friday, September 16th, the library hosted its annual Celebration of Summer Reading, also known as 'the ice cream party'.  Excitement was high as students in G2-G6 enjoyed rainbow-coloured ice cream topped with rainbow-coloured marshmallows.  Thank you to the wonderful parent volunteers who scooped close to 200 ice creams! Also, a shout out to Tracy S, our ice cream organizer extraordinaire, for working behind the scenes to make it all possible.
