Grade 9 Eastern Canada Trip: History, Politics, & Culture
All Grade 9 students are invited to participate in the sixth annual trip to Eastern Canada as part of the French and Social Studies 9 curricula. It will be a tremendous cultural and educational experience, one not available to tourists. This is a perfect time of year to visit Quebec, as we will be present for the famous Carnaval de Québec festivities. Students will stay with French families, spend a day at a French school, dine in French restaurants, and experience all that French culture has to offer. The Social Studies 9 curriculum will be nicely complemented with visits to Parliament Hill and to the new Museum of War. To prepare for this excursion, students will learn more about the history and significance of French-Canadian culture and we will also be covering such topics as how to pack, what to bring, billeting, expenses and expectations of students. As well, we will study Canadian government, in order to make students’ experiences as rewarding and enriching as possible.
