The Admission Process

How to Apply

Early Learning Centre: Preschool for 3- and 4-Year-Olds

To apply for our full-day PK3 or PK4 programme, you should begin the application process in the fall prior to the year of entrance.

  1. Schedule a visit - We encourage you to visit our school so that you can experience the Mulgrave difference for yourself. You are welcome to attend one of our Admissions events or you can schedule a private tour with one of the members of our Admissions team. We do have an Open House just for parents looking into preschool, so be sure to have a look at our Visiting Mulgrave page.
  2. Apply online - Once you have decided to pursue admission to Mulgrave, you will need to complete our online application.
  3. Email confirmation - You will receive a confirmation email once you have completed the application and clicked the ‘submit’ button. If you do not receive that email within 24 hours, please contact us by emailing .
  4. Submit documents - The confirmation email will outline details about the documents we require. They include a Records Request Waiver Form and a copy of your child’s birth certificate or any other document that demonstrates your family’s status in Canada.
  5. Group assessment - Students with fully completed applications who meet our admissions criteria will be invited to attend a group assessment day.
  6. Parent interview - Parents will be scheduled to meet with a member of either the Admissions or the ELC Leadership team on a separate day.

Kindergarten to Grade 5

To apply for our full-day Kindergarten programme or Grades 1-5, you should begin the application process in the fall prior to the year of entrance.

Additionally, we ask that you submit copies of the last two reports you have received from your current school.
  5. Teacher Observation Form - These confidential forms are provided to you when you apply online and should be given to a current teacher and be sent directly to Mulgrave upon completion.
  6. Group assessment - Students with fully completed applications who meet our admissions criteria will be invited to attend a group assessment or an individual assessment.
  7. Parent interview - While the students attend the group assessment with the teachers, the parents will be scheduled to meet with a member of either the Admissions or the Junior School Leadership team.

Grades 6-11

Most applicants to our Middle Years Programme (Grades 6-10) or Diploma Programme (Grades 11-12) have their applications completed and documents submitted by February.

  2. Apply online - Once you have decided to pursue admission to Mulgrave, you will need to complete our online application.

  5. SSAT - Applicants to Grades 6-11 should register for the Secondary School Admission Test. You must provide Mulgrave’s code (5263) when you register in order for the test results to be sent to us. It is recommended that you register for a test date in or before February.
  6. Teacher Observation Form - These confidential forms are provided to you when you apply online and should be given to a current teacher and be sent directly to Mulgrave upon completion. If you have any problems having these forms completed, please contact the Admissions Office.
  7. Student questionnaire - Students applying for Grades 6-11 should download our applicant questionnaire and submit it as part of the documentation or at the time of your interview.
  8. Student/Parent interview - Individual interviews with the divisional principal or vice-principal will be scheduled based on anticipated space and applicants’ qualifications. An Admissions team member will meet with the parents at the time of the student’s interview.

Information for International Student Applicants

  • Mulgrave School is a day school – we have no boarding facilities or homestay capacity. All of our students live in the Vancouver area with their families.
  • Mulgrave’s curriculum is rigorous and requires students to have a high level of fluency in written and spoken English. We do not offer any ESL for students whose English language skills are not advanced.
  • For entrance, we require results from the SSAT, only. We do not require or accept results from the TOEFL.
